Members of Kirkcaldy Canoe Club had the pleasure of being invited to attend the official opening of Fife Canoeing Activities Group (FCAG) new building. The clubs enjoy close links, with many paddlers having paddled with both clubs over the years.
FCAG are an established local canoe club who have recently completed a new building for a boat store at Lochore Meadows country park. They had been forced to move from their former rented building after it became beyond economic repair.
After five years in the planning and construction the official opening was on Saturday 14th June 2008. The project has been long, but with much hard work and fundraising by the club, they now have a building to be proud of. It is primarily a boat and equipment store, with changing in the adjacent outdoor sports centre, however it will allow the club to build and develop it’s current membership.
The ribbon cutting was performed by Brian Chapman, president of the Scottish Canoe Association, following an excellent speech by Kevin Williams. The ceremony was followed by a cake cutting, barbeque, and paddling session.
Kirkcaldy Canoe Club would like to wish FCAG all the best in their new building and continue their success. For more information visit them athttp://www.fcag.co.uk/index2.php
