Kinghorn Loch Courses and Records

Courses

Kinghorn Loch has been used as a regatta venue for much of the club's history. There is a buoyed course around the perimeter which is 1000m long. The club use GPS to accurately set the course. In the past, survey equipment was used to lay the buoyage in the correct positions. There is also a 200m course and a 375m course for '500m' races!

The loch is a kettle hole and approximately 12m deep to the south of the centre, and between 3m and 4m around the rest of the lap (Edwards (1985). PhD thesis for Edinburgh University, December 1985. http://www.kinghorncommunity.org.uk/environment.html )
