SprintSprint racing is one of the fastest canoe and kayaking disciplines. Sprint is an Olympic discipline along with Slalom. Sprint racing is often held on regatta lakes, which are a standard length, width, and depth. They are usually divided into eight lanes. In Scotland sprint events are held on a variety of water with Strathclyde Park the only true regatta lake. Races take place over 200m, 500m, 1000m, 3km, and 6km in K1, K2, and K4 boats, as well as C1 and C2 canoes. Classes are offered for Lightning U10 and U12, U14, U16, U18, U23, Senior, and Veteran. Nationally, classes are split into Boys A-D, Girls A-D, Mens and Womans A-D, and Veterans A-D. There is also the Padability class for disabled paddlers.
